Do you remember where you were...

*Note: this one has been floating around in my head for a couple of days. I'm just now making it to the computer to hammer it out, so I'm post dating it.

Do you remember where you were 14 months ago today? I sure do. I was sitting in a hospital bed as a proud mommy to a one day old baby! That's right Jack has officially passed the 14-month mark. I guess at a certain point you stop marking their age with months, but I assume that happens when their clothes aren't sized in months anymore.

Although he's still not walking Jack is certainly showing signs of having learned new things every day. For months, he had enjoyed playing peek-a-boo by hiding around the corner of the couch or just out of sight and then popping his head up, but this week he has learned to cover his eyes with his hands and then uncover them! He does this with a surprised look on his face and usually a giggle.

Jack enjoys laughing and does it like it's contagious. If he overhears someone laughing he usually laughs too, even strangers! It's pretty cute. We are still getting a kick out of watching him dance. When he hears some music he likes, he starts moving and grooving.

Jack loves chocolate milk and regularly asks for juice. He loves the sign for eat/food and does it all the time to let you know he wants to eat whatever it is you are eating or whatever it is he sees that he thinks might taste good (food or otherwise!) He recently started signing "down" for when he wants you to put him down or get out of his high chair. It's pretty funny because he usually signs it when he wants to climb up on the couch too.

He's standing pretty well on his own, but still seems to be pretty content to keep up the speed crawling. He walks well behind his push toy and loves to climb the stairs whenever permitted to do so! He loves to say "woof, woof" when he sees a dog. He still seems to be pretty tall. I look forward to seeing his percentiles for height and weight at his check up in March.

The Wheels on the Bike Go Round & Round

What a week it has been. Jack is such a funny boy. We are especially enjoying listening to all the new noises he is making these days. He loves to grunt and is beginning to make squealing type noises that almost sound like giggles. The funniest thing is when he makes these when we are not doing anything to provoke him! Another fun discovery has been himself...he is still enjoying watching himself in the mirror. It usually makes him laugh.

Warm temperatures this week allowed us to take frequent walks around the neighborhood. On Thursday, we even met Andrea, Andrew & Abigail (some friends from church) at the park for a walk around the track. Later we lunched on the square in Clarkesville. We have truly been enjoying the spring weather.

On Saturday afternoon we traveled to Athens to take in the annual Twilight Criterium bike races in downtown. The rain held off which was nice. Josh and I always attended the bike races in college and have tried to make it back as often as possible since then. It is a really fun event. Jack watched the bikes going by in the beginning, but as the night wore on and he grew tired, he was a little less interested in the bikes, noise and hoopla and more interested in finding a quiet place to rest his head. I got a real kick out of watching the kids take their lap. It made me think about what Jack will look like once he's riding his very own bike. We took in the event in the company of Stacie, Grandma Jan & Grandpa Blake.

Rolling & Laughing

This week Jack discovered how to roll over, which was pretty exciting. He really doesn't enjoy tummy time too much, so I usually don't make him play on his tummy much. This week, I put him down and a few seconds later he rolled over to his back. I just kept putting on his tummy and he kept rolling over, and over, and over again. I pulled out the video camera and managed to get some footage of him rolling. I mixed it with some shots of him playing and laughing with Josh. Jack has the most contagious laugh...but I guess that could be said about most babies laughs! The video is at the bottom of the blog. Enjoy!

Lots of Laughs & Lots of Birthdays

So, this weekend we spent a lot of time running around. Friday evening we were back at Philips arena to take in another Thrashers game. This time around the Thrashers actually won and in dramatic fashion...scoring 2 goals in the final 3 minutes to tie the game and then ultimately prevailing in a shootout. I managed to get a photo of the fire-breathing Thrasher, which Josh and I made endless jokes about. It was a fun evening and we were glad to have received the free tickets again.

On Saturday, we drove to Commerce to meet my mom and head over to Braselton for a baby shower for Becca, my best friend from high school. She is having her first baby in a few weeks...it's a girl. Saturday afternoon the three of us headed to the Mall of Georgia to meet Josh's parents for dinner. We celebrated Josh's birthday and they came back home with us. It was a long, but fun day.

After springing forward we hustled to church, then to Athens for a late lunch to celebrate Emily's birthday. We enjoyed cookies and ice cream at mom & dad's house. Jack has really started laughing now. It is SO CUTE. He'll usually only laugh at little bit each day. Josh and I try to get him going as often as possible. As you can see, he even shared his cute little laugh with Emily on her birthday.
Jack and I got Josh a new coffee maker for his birthday, so Sunday evening we made coffee and hot cocoa and watched a movie. It was a long, but fun weekend. We'll be celebrating all week...Josh's birthday is Sunday!
