m is for moooo & milk!

Last Monday the boys and I headed down to Braselton to meet some friends of ours for some fun at the Mayfield dairy. My best friend from high school lives nearby. She has a three-year-old as well and is expecting her second child in December. Although they are less frequent than we'd like, we enjoy every chance we have to get together. It had been almost a year since our last playdate in October!

We enjoyed lunch together beforehand, where the kids were a bit wild. Then went to tour the Mayfield operations. Maybe still a bit over the head of three-year-olds, they seemed to enjoy seeing the big milk trucks and milking Bessie.

October

October has arrived, and it brought some cooler temperatures with it. They were short lived, but they will be back again soon. Although we've still had some days hovering in the 80s, most days have been pretty perfect weather wise. They are the perfect kind of days.

Perfect for tailgating with fellow Raiders

Perfect for spending time with cousins!

Perfect for celebrating milestone birthdays! Dad, I'm guessing you weren't specific enough when you wished for a Bulldog victory that night.

Perfect for pumpkins!
Perfect for afternoon outings at the park...with bubbles, of course!

Perfect for train rides with fellow choo-choo enthusiasts

Perfect for a hayride with my boys!

Perfect for basking in the glory of God's beautiful canvas. A canvas on the verge of changing all around us!

Perfect for photo posing with friends.

Perfect for watching football. Although I'm not used to having to go to this much trouble just to watch a game. I guess that's what happens when your team is struggling (to say the least).

Perfect for monkeying around with friends. Think Evelyn is having any fun?
Perfect for cutting loose and letting things slide.
So, we've been keeping very busy these days...but still been managing to get our fair share of fun too.

Old and New

Jack, Sam & I spent the morning catching up with friends old and new. My best friend from high school, Becca lives about 35 miles away and has a 2 year old daughter, Evelyn. Since we moved here almost 3 years ago, we've gotten together a hand-full of times...first when I was pregnant, then later when she was pregnant and I had a newborn, then twice more with our little ones in tow. Well, this was the first time the kids were old enough to actually play with one another and hopefully remember the new friend they were playing with. Jack and Evelyn spent two full hours chasing each other, making each other laugh and generally just being two year olds. In between the occasional reigning in of the wild ones, Becca and I caught up and enjoyed just being mommies.

I love this shot of Jack & Evelyn. The look on their faces is one of bewilderment as if they can hardly believe I have poked my head (and my camera) into the Thomas tent, which is in their minds very clearly a kids-only zone! Thanks, Becca & Evelyn for a fun morning. The cookies were SOOO good!

Lunch Date

One of the neatest things about us ending up in Habersham County is that one of my best friends from high school moved just a couple of counties from us and just had a baby of her own a few months ago. We have been trying to get our little ones together and catch up ourselves as often as possible. We got together early this summer so I could meet her daughter, Evelyn Grace. Monday we found a chance to meet up again for lunch and browsing at the outlets.

It was great to catch up and both Jack and Evelyn Grace are old enough to sit up and interact. So, I got some good shots of the two of them entertaining one another. It was great seeing Becca and E.G.

On the way home, I stopped by a friends to drop off something and walked away with a crate full of clothes for Jack...thanks, Sarah! Doubt you're reading this...you're probably still tagging!

Playdates

This week has been a busy and exciting week. Jack is still earnestly working to figure out his cup and tried cereal puffs yesterday. He liked them for the most part, but had a little trouble when one scratched his throat a little. It looks like he is miserable in this photo, but he wasn't unhappy the whole time, I promise.

We also had a couple of get togethers that turned into sort of playdates. On Wednesday evening we had the Yorks over for dinner. They have a two-month old named Andrew. It was neat to watch the two discovering each other. Jack did a lot more looking with his hands and Andrew was more content to observe with his eyes only. Hopefully, Jack didn't scare him off and they will come back! I managed to get a few great shots of the duo while Jack was trying to grab Andrew's face.

On Thursday, Jack and I drove to Braselton for lunch to meet an old friend of mine from high school, Rebecca. She has a two-month old as well, but hers is a little girl! Evelyn Grace is very cute and was very well-behaved. We had fun catching up and ended up talking mostly about babies and motherhood...go figure! Anyway, I totally forgot to take pictures so we definitely have to do it again soon. We kept joking that this was their first date! Ha, ha! (Sarah, don't tell Mallory!)
